Laura's room - the home stretch
Fast forward to this weekend. The last pictures were the ceiling drywall going up. I put one last piece up myself (just to say I participated) then at the last minute I decided my lack of grip and finesse wasn't up to the task of mudding and taping the drywall, so an emergency call to our friend Tom got him over from Tuesday to Thursday for the three coats of mud.
After some intense haggling (about a minute) we gave him a bit of money and since I saw he was eyeballing my drywalling tools, I let him have them! I don't figure to need them anymore and it was a good, well deserved bonus for Tom.
Last night and this morning I discovered how annoying sanding drywall is, but it was nice to finish. We put up the primer this afternoon, and the pictures below show how excited Laura is to get the first bit of paint on. We'll finish the first colour tonight, give it some time to dry then tomorrow afternoon the white goes up on the other walls and voila! A finished room, just a light to install, a door to paint, and oh yeah, a whole bunch of stuff to put back in the room!

She said it!
We're going out today after I get the kids from school to a whole bunch of things for our kids and dog. Listen to what Lisa says about the fact that Molly will be okay without her food for a few hours...
"Yup, Molly will be fine, especially if we were to bring her a "treat" from dinner - listen to me!!!!!! I used to laugh at people who would buy an extra ice cream cone just for their dog! Ahhhhh, I've turned into one of those people that I used to ridicule!"
Yes, how people have changed...

Play Time
When we came home from church this afternoon molly has removed half of the things in Andrew's room to the living room, it was quite funny. So we discovered she's quite happy to go fetch these toys from the basement!

Laura's bedroom wall
We are thrilled to have such a good friend in Jim to basically come and put up a wall for us. I was pretty apprehensive to try to do this on my own so Jim came and took charge of the situation.
Start time - 1:15 p.m.
Finish time - 4:30 p.m.
Of course my mind was so fixated on the wall that when Lisa said to me "So, when are we going to do the mudding and taping of the drywall?" I stood there dumbfounded.
More to come...

A sad and happy change...
Well, we have big news (for us anyway). Two Sunday's ago Max exhibited some "behavioural issues" with a friend of our kids and those tendencies continued. After taking him into the vet she was very firm with us that these tendencies would continue and perhaps get worse. We took her advice and returned her to the Humane Society.
After a few days of mourning we returned there to see if they had any other dogs we might like. They didn't. We spied a free dog on a local web site and after a lot of questions and a one hour trip to Regina we found a very energetic German Shepherd/Labrador Retriever mix. After spending some time with her and seeing how we got on very well immediately with the kids we agreed to take her home. This is a picture of her from the web site and obviously taken a while ago as she's quite a bit bigger now. She's 14 months old and is "too loving" according to her former owner. Pictures to come.
It is nice to know we're helping out one of our Canadian finest as this man is heading out to Afghanistan in a few weeks to begin a 6 month tour of duty. Our best wishes to him and the rest of his unit in the Canadian Forces.

Max learns quickly
Max would never do this when Mummy and Daddy are around, but we were gone for the day and the kids were at home. He decided it was okay to jump up on the couch and have a snooze. Laura called us to say he was on the couch, sleeping, and really looked peaceful, so we let him stay... just this once!
Sigh, he's a great dog, but we do have some "training" to do with him still!
